Authentication-level escalation via repeated session refresh
Published Nov 18, 2024 · Updated Nov 3, 2025
Improper session-refresh checks in LemonLDAP::NG before 2.20.1 allow remote authenticated users to raise the session authentication level. The session-rights refresh path reapplies an increment-based adaptive authentication rule during refresh, increasing the session's stored level. Exploitation requires a valid user session and an administrator-configured incremental adaptive rule; the raised level can unlock protected resources.
