CVE-2024-5294

Unauthenticated service interruption via HTTP cookie memory leak

Published May 23, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024

Memory leak in prog.cgi in D-Link DIR-3040 firmware 120B03 and earlier allows attackers to interrupt service through HTTP cookies. The websSecurityHandler routine fails to release memory allocated while processing attacker-supplied cookie values, causing resource exhaustion. Any unauthenticated host on an adjacent network can reach the HNAP handler over HTTP or HTTPS, and the consequence is limited to service availability rather than data access or modification.
