Privilege escalation in Ubuntu wpa_supplicant allows local users to execute code as the daemon account through its D-Bus interface. The CreateInterface handler accepts a caller-supplied ConfigFile whose unchecked opensc_engine_path or pkcs11_engine_path directs the privileged process to load an arbitrary shared object. Membership in netdev or equivalent access to fi.w1.wpa_supplicant1 is required, and the resulting code normally runs as root.
