Buffer over-read in affected InsydeH2O kernel 5.2 through 5.7 builds allows local privileged users to interrupt system availability. In VariableRuntimeDxe, VariableServicesSetVariable applies StrSize, StrLen, and StrCmp to a variable name, causing reads beyond its buffer. Exploitation requires local high-privilege access and high complexity; the vendor reports availability impact without data disclosure or modification.
