CVE-2024-52876

Remote shutdown via repeated Bluetooth GATT reads

Published Nov 17, 2024 · Updated Nov 18, 2024

Out-of-bounds read in Holy Stone Remote ID Module firmware before 1.1.8 allows physically proximate attackers to shut it down via Bluetooth. In broadcast mode, firmware mishandles repeated reads of the ASTM Remote ID (0xFFFA) GATT characteristic and powers the module off. No authentication or user interaction is required, but Bluetooth proximity and broadcast mode are required; exploitation interrupts Remote ID broadcasting.
