Script execution via Magnific lightbox thumbnails
Published Dec 19, 2024 · Updated Dec 20, 2024
Cross-site scripting in Discourse's Magnific lightbox allows remote authenticated users to execute script when a user clicks a thumbnail. The vendor identifies the thumbnail lightbox as the affected locus but has not disclosed the untrusted field or incorrect rendering operation. A low-privileged account and a victim click are required; successful exploitation can alter page content, expose browser-accessible data, and disrupt the session.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=beta: <= 3.4.0.beta3
- Affected versionversion=stable: <= 3.3.2
