Stored XSS via unrestricted file upload
Published Jun 6, 2024 · Updated Oct 15, 2025
Unrestricted file upload in GaiZhenbiao ChuanhuChatGPT before 20240919 allows remote attackers to store XSS payloads through /upload. The handle_file_upload function accepts attacker-controlled files without validating their extensions or content types, permitting HTML and Python files. No authentication is required, but browser script execution requires another user to open the stored HTML; published evidence does not establish a server-side Python execution path.
