DNS spoofing via sequential transaction IDs

DNS transaction-ID prediction in Avahi before 0.9 allows remote attackers to inject forged records into wide-area DNS responses. The wide-area lookup engine seeds an identifier once at daemon startup, then increments it for each query instead of selecting a fresh random value. Exploitation requires wide-area DNS, which now defaults to disabled, and permits redirection through accepted malicious DNS records.
