CVE-2024-52590Network attack vector

Federated user impersonation via unchecked profile origin

Published Dec 18, 2024 · Updated Dec 19, 2024

Improper input validation in Misskey 2024.8.0-rc.3 through 2024.11.0-alpha.2 allows remote attackers to impersonate federated users. ApRequestService.signedGet accepts a fetched ActivityPub profile without confirming that its identifier shares the final response URL's origin. No prior account or user interaction is required; a signed request from an attacker-controlled remote instance creates a spoofed user that can post, renote, and interact as the impersonated account.
