CVE-2024-52582

Secret disclosure via exception traceback locals

Published Nov 19, 2024 · Updated Nov 19, 2024

Sensitive information exposure in Red Hat Hermeto before 0.14.0 allows attackers to read secrets from CI or build logs via an unhandled exception. The Typer application in cachi2/interface/cli.py leaves pretty_exceptions_show_locals enabled, causing an unhandled exception to print each stack frame's local variables into the traceback. Exploitation requires user interaction to reach an exceptional path and access to the resulting log; the bounded impact is disclosure of secrets held in function locals.
