CVE-2024-52581Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Application server crash via unbounded request buffering

Published Nov 20, 2024 · Updated Nov 25, 2024

Denial of service in Litestar before 2.13.0 allows remote attackers to crash application servers with oversized request bodies. Request.json(), Request.msgpack(), and Request.form() call body() to buffer the entire request stream without a prior size check or limit. A reachable endpoint must process the matching content type; the resulting memory and swap exhaustion interrupts the application server.
