CVE-2024-5256

Information disclosure via SMB2 integer underflow

Published Jun 6, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024

Integer underflow in SMB2 message handling in Sonos Era 100 15.9 allows network-adjacent attackers to disclose sensitive information. The SMB2 handler fails to validate user-supplied message data, causing an integer underflow before it reads from memory. No authentication is required, but the attacker must share an adjacent network; the disclosure can support a separate exploit chain to execute as root.
