Service interruption via unbounded OpenGraph response download
Published Nov 15, 2024 · Updated Nov 15, 2024
Resource exhaustion in Nextcloud Server 28.0.0 through 28.0.9 and 29.0.0 through 29.0.6 allows remote authenticated users to interrupt service. LinkReferenceProvider trusts the HEAD response's Content-Length, then converts the complete GET body to a string for OpenGraph parsing without enforcing its 5 MiB limit. Exploitation requires authenticated access and user interaction to trigger link resolution; oversized response consumption can interrupt the server without reading or changing data.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=>= 28.0.0, < 28.0.10
