Remote command execution via MQTT command payloads
Published Dec 6, 2024 · Updated Dec 6, 2024
Command injection in Ruijie Networks ReyeeOS before 2.320.x allows remote attackers to execute OS commands through crafted MQTT messages. The mqlink.elf cloud-communication binary accepts command-topic payloads as OS commands and executes them without distinguishing attacker-published messages from cloud instructions. Exploitation requires a cloud-connected device and the ability to publish to its MQTT command topic, after which code runs on the appliance and can expose its internal network.
