Authenticated code execution via unnormalized template path
Published Nov 13, 2024 · Updated Nov 13, 2024
Path traversal in Pixel & Tonic Craft CMS 4 before 4.12.2 and 5 before 5.4.3 allows remote authenticated users to execute code via Twig SSTI. FileHelper::absolutePath concatenates base and relative paths without normalizing the result, letting a ../ path evade isSystemDir and place an uploaded Twig template under the system templates directory. Exploitation requires administrative access and ALLOW_ADMIN_CHANGES=true; the uploaded template can invoke system commands when its route is requested.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
