CVE-2024-52286Network attack vector

Self-XSS via unsanitized merge filename rendering

Published Nov 11, 2024 · Updated Jan 9, 2025

Cross-site scripting in Stirling PDF before 0.32.0 allows context-dependent attackers to run JavaScript via a crafted filename. The merge page writes uploaded filenames directly to innerHTML in src/main/resources/static/js/merge.js without sanitizing HTML tags. Execution occurs only in the browser of the user who uploads the file, so exploitation requires that user to submit a maliciously named file, such as through social engineering.
