CVE-2024-5216Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Administrative panel hang via unbounded usernames

Published Jun 25, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024

Uncontrolled resource consumption in AnythingLLM before 1.0.0 allows remote attackers to hang the user management panel via a long username. The User model and system update endpoint accepted username strings without length validation, allowing oversized values to be stored and rendered. The affected multi-user Docker deployment exposes account creation without privileges; a bulky username prevents administrators from editing, suspending, or deleting that account.
