File compromise via custom-logo path normalization bypass
Published Jun 12, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Path traversal in AnythingLLM before 1.0.0 allows remote authenticated users with manager access to read, overwrite, or delete stored files. The custom-logo upload path passes filenames through normalizePath, which failed to replace embedded whitespace before stripping leading parent-directory segments. Manager access in a multi-user instance is required; exposed database, key, or environment files can enable service interruption or administrator takeover.
