Private channel-name disclosure via incomplete query filtering
Published Nov 9, 2024 · Updated Nov 12, 2024
Information disclosure in Mattermost 9.11.0 through 9.11.2 and 10.0.0 allows remote authenticated users to read private channel names. The channel-switcher search path sends an Elasticsearch query that fails to apply the requesting user's channel-membership restrictions. Exposure requires Elasticsearch v8 search to be enabled and leaks names only; no channel contents, writes, or service interruption are reported.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=10.0.0
- Affected versionversion=9.11.0 <=9.11.2
