Service interruption via oversized PPTP netmask
Published Nov 5, 2024 · Updated Nov 5, 2024
Stack overflow in genie_pptp.cgi in NETGEAR R7000P firmware 1.3.3.154 allows remote authenticated users to interrupt service. The handler copies an oversized pptp_user_netmask value from a crafted POST request into a stack buffer without checking its length. Exploitation requires low-privilege access from an adjacent network and is limited to device availability, with no reported data exposure or modification.
