Router service interruption via unchecked PPPoE input
Published Nov 5, 2024 · Updated Nov 5, 2024
Stack overflow in bsw_pppoe.cgi in NETGEAR R7000P 1.3.3.154 and XR300 1.0.3.78 allows remote authenticated users to interrupt router service. The CGI handler copies an oversized pppoe_localip value from a crafted POST request into a fixed-size stack buffer without checking its length. Exploitation requires adjacent-network reachability and low privileges, and successful exploitation interrupts routing availability.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
