Service interruption via unchecked PPPoE address copy
Published Nov 5, 2024 · Updated Nov 5, 2024
Stack overflow in NETGEAR XR300 1.0.3.78, R7000P 1.3.3.154, and R6400 v2 1.0.4.128 allows remote authenticated users to interrupt router service. The geniepppoe.cgi handler copies the attacker-controlled pppoe_localip POST parameter into a fixed-size stack buffer without checking its length. Exploitation requires adjacent-network access and low privileges, and the documented consequence is service interruption rather than data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
