Authenticated command execution via wan_gateway injection
Published Nov 5, 2024 · Updated Nov 5, 2024
OS command injection in NETGEAR R8500 firmware 1.0.2.160 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary OS commands. The bsw_fix.cgi handler incorporates the attacker-controlled wan_gateway value into an OS command without neutralizing command syntax. Reachability requires low-privileged adjacent-network access, and successful injection permits command execution on the router.
