Authenticated command execution via wan_gateway injection
Published Nov 5, 2024 · Updated Nov 5, 2024
Command injection in NETGEAR R8500 Firmware 1.0.2.160 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary OS commands. The wiz_fix2.cgi handler uses the untrusted wan_gateway value in an operating-system command without neutralizing command syntax. Reachability requires low-privilege access from an adjacent network, after which injected commands can read or alter data and interrupt service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
