Memory corruption via unchecked image size arithmetic
Published Jun 3, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Integer overflow in libvpx before 1.14.1 allows attackers to corrupt image metadata through oversized dimensions or alignment values. img_alloc_helper computes strides, allocation sizes, and plane offsets with arithmetic that wraps before values are stored in vpx_image_t. Reachability requires a consuming application to pass attacker-influenced extreme values; invalid strides and plane offsets can corrupt memory or crash that process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
