Stored XSS via unsanitized SVG MIME allowance
Published Jun 21, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in WPMU DEV Branda 3.4.17 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through uploaded SVG files. The Images utility accepts the configured mime_types value without adequately sanitizing SVG content or escaping it when rendered. Author-level access is sufficient; the stored payload runs when another user opens the injected page, enabling actions in that user's browser context.
