Arbitrary file deletion via model path traversal
Published Jun 19, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Path traversal in LocalAI before 2.16.0 allows remote attackers to delete arbitrary files through the model-deletion API. The model-deletion handler uses the unvalidated model parameter to construct a filesystem path that can escape the configured models directory. No authentication or user interaction is required, and files accessible to the LocalAI process can be removed, including files needed for service availability.
