Unauthenticated code execution via crafted backend path
Published Jun 26, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Command injection in Mudler LocalAI before 2.16.0 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through a crafted backend path. The model configuration loader uses the backend parameter's attacker-controlled binary path as the initialized process name without neutralizing command elements. No authentication or user interaction is required, and successful exploitation runs code with the LocalAI service process's privileges.
