Host denial of service via invalid CORB pointer
Published Nov 12, 2024 · Updated Nov 3, 2025
Improper input validation in FreeBSD bhyve allows guest OS users to hang the host through an emulated HDA audio device. The HDA CORB runner accepts an HDAC_CORBWP value that is not less than the ring size, so its modulo-sized read pointer can never reach the invalid write pointer and processing spins indefinitely. Exploitation requires control of a guest configured with the HDA device and interrupts the affected bhyve host workload.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
