Remote code execution via unsanitized BBMD parameters
Published Dec 5, 2024 · Updated Dec 5, 2024
Improper input validation in ABB ASPECT products through 3.08.02 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via crafted requests. The bbmdUpdate.php handler writes POST parameters such as hexMask values without sanitizing shell metacharacters, allowing injected commands to reach the operating system. The published proof of concept supplies a session cookie, while ABB's scoring treats the flaw as unauthenticated; exposure requires network access to a misconfigured device.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
