Account takeover via unsanitized custom logo URL
Published Nov 11, 2024 · Updated Nov 12, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in Ampache before 7.0.1 allows remote authenticated users to take over administrator accounts via a crafted logo URL. PreferencesFromRequestUpdater stores the custom_logo value without URL validation, so a quote can escape the image src attribute and add an event handler. A low-privileged user must save the payload and an administrator must later load an affected page, where the script can exfiltrate the administrator's session cookie.
