CVE-2024-5149Network attack vector

Unauthenticated email verification bypass via guessable activation codes

Published Jun 5, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026

Email verification bypass in ThemeKraft BuddyForms 2.8.9 and earlier allows remote attackers to activate accounts without email access. The activation-code routine in includes/wp-insert-user.php generates insufficiently random tokens that can be guessed instead of obtained from the confirmation message. No authentication or user interaction is required; a successful guess marks an address as verified, without reported code execution or service interruption.
