Catalog Manager account takeover via favicon XSS
Published Nov 11, 2024 · Updated Nov 12, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in Ampache before 7.0.1 allows remote authenticated users to take over an administrator account. The Custom URL - Favicon preference stores an attribute-breaking string without sanitization and renders it inside an input value, causing JavaScript execution. Catalog Manager access is required to plant the payload, and an administrator must interact with the affected page before session cookies can be exfiltrated.
