CVE-2024-5124Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Password disclosure via nonconstant-time authentication comparison

Published Jun 6, 2024 · Updated May 20, 2025

Timing exposure in ChuanhuChatGPT before 20240628 allows remote attackers to infer configured passwords through login-response timing. The auth_from_conf function compares the stored password with attacker input using Python's equality operator, whose early mismatch behavior exposes response-time differences. The web interface must use configured username-password authentication and be reachable; successful inference discloses a password and permits account access.
