Privilege escalation via unsafe DLL search path
Published Nov 15, 2024 · Updated Nov 15, 2024
DLL hijacking in the TOTOLINK A600UB driver installer allows local users to execute arbitrary code with administrator privileges. WifiAutoInstallDriver.exe searches for absent DLLs in attacker-writable locations and loads a planted MSASN1.dll without validating its origin. Exploitation requires a planted DLL and an administrator to approve the UAC prompt and run the legitimate installer, after which the payload inherits elevated privileges.
