CAN communication disruption via unauthenticated UDS request
Published Nov 22, 2024 · Updated Jan 13, 2025
Improper access control in KIA Seltos instrument-cluster software and hardware 1.0 allows physically proximate attackers to disrupt CAN traffic. The cluster accepts an unauthenticated UDS Communication Control service request with payload 0x280303 and stops transmitting its CAN messages. Physical access to the cluster CAN interface is required; the supplier disputes vehicle applicability because testing used an isolated ECU and the behavior follows UDS.
