CVE-2024-51072Public exploit

ECU reboot via repeated UDS reset requests

Published Nov 22, 2024 · Updated Jan 10, 2025

Denial of service in the KIA Seltos instrument cluster software and hardware 1.0 allows physically proximate attackers to reboot the ECU via UDS. Repeated Hard Reset service 0x11 requests on CAN ID 0x7C6 receive positive acknowledgments and continually reinitialize the cluster. Physical diagnostic-interface access and the relevant CAN IDs are required; the supplier disputes the finding because testing used an isolated ECU rather than an installed vehicle.
