Authenticated command execution via unsanitized HostName parameter
Published Nov 5, 2024 · Updated Nov 5, 2024
Command injection in D-Link DIR-823G 1.0.2B05 allows remote authenticated users on an adjacent network to execute OS commands. The SetWanSettings function incorporates the HostName request parameter into an operating-system command without neutralizing command syntax. Access to the router management interface and low-privilege authentication are required, after which injected commands can read or alter device data and interrupt service.
