Router crash via unchecked USB device name
Published Nov 5, 2024 · Updated Nov 5, 2024
Stack overflow in usb_approve.cgi in NETGEAR XR300 Firmware 1.0.3.78 allows remote authenticated users to crash the router. The CGI handler copies an oversized addName%d POST parameter into a fixed-size stack buffer without checking its length. Exploitation requires router-admin access from the adjacent network and interrupts availability; public records do not establish code execution.
