Authenticated service interruption via oversized passphrase
Published Nov 5, 2024 · Updated Nov 5, 2024
Stack overflow in wireless.cgi in NETGEAR XR300 Firmware 1.0.3.78 allows remote authenticated users to interrupt router service. The handler copies an oversized passphrase value from a crafted POST request without checking the destination buffer size, overwriting its stack. Reachability requires low-privilege access from an adjacent network, and successful exploitation disrupts availability without reported data disclosure or modification.
