CVE-2024-51006

Service interruption via ipv6_static_ip stack overflow

Published Nov 5, 2024 · Updated Nov 5, 2024

Stack overflow in NETGEAR R8500 firmware 1.0.2.160 allows remote authenticated users to interrupt routing via a crafted POST request. The ipv6_tunnel function processes an oversized ipv6_static_ip value without enforcing the destination stack buffer's capacity. Low-privileged access from an adjacent network is required, and exploitation interrupts service without reported data exposure.
