Authenticated command execution via crafted share name
Published Nov 5, 2024 · Updated Nov 5, 2024
OS command injection in NETGEAR R8500 Firmware 1.0.2.160 allows remote authenticated users to execute OS commands via a crafted request. The usb_remote_smb_conf.cgi handler places an insufficiently neutralized share_name parameter into an operating-system command context. Exploitation requires low-privilege access from an adjacent network, and successful injection grants command execution with the router service's privileges.
