CVE-2024-51003

Router crash via oversized DNS parameters

Published Nov 5, 2024 · Updated Nov 5, 2024

Stack overflow in NETGEAR router firmware allows remote authenticated users to crash affected routers via a crafted POST request. The ap_mode.cgi handler copies oversized apmode_dns1_pri or apmode_dns1_sec values into a stack buffer without checking their length. Affected builds are R8500 1.0.2.160, XR300 1.0.3.78, R7000P 1.3.3.154, and R6400 v2 1.0.4.128; adjacent-network access is required.
