Local code execution via QUSEREX.DLL search hijack
Published Nov 15, 2024 · Updated Nov 29, 2024
DLL search-order hijacking in Clementine 1.3.1 allows local users to execute arbitrary code by planting a crafted QUSEREX.DLL. Clementine searches for the missing QUSEREX.DLL in the user-writable WindowsApps directory and loads an attacker-supplied file from that location. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and a user to launch the application; the payload runs in that user's Clementine process.
