Unauthorized review posting via unchecked EntityId
Published Dec 27, 2024 · Updated Mar 18, 2025
Improper access control in SimplCommerce at commit 230310c8d7a0408569b292c5a805c459d47a1d8f allows remote attackers to post unauthorized reviews. The AddReview method in ReviewController.cs trusts a client-controlled EntityId and relies on frontend purchase checks instead of validating purchase history on the backend. No authentication or prior purchase is required, so crafted POST requests can create reviews for arbitrary products.
