Remote code execution via unchecked file upload

Published May 23, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026

Arbitrary file upload in HashThemes Hash Form 1.1.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to place executable files on WordPress servers. The file_upload_action AJAX handler accepts an uploaded file and writes it to the uploads directory without validating its server-side type. No authentication is required; an uploaded PHP script can be requested from the uploads directory to execute arbitrary commands.
