CVE-2024-50696Network attack vector

Unauthorized firmware installation via unchecked MQTT update

Published Feb 26, 2025 · Updated Mar 4, 2025

Missing firmware integrity checks in Sungrow WiNet-S V200.001.00.P025 and earlier allow remote attackers to install bogus firmware. A specific MQTT update message directs an inverter or WiNet connectivity dongle to fetch and install firmware from an attacker-controlled server without verifying its integrity. No authentication or user interaction is required; installed firmware can enable unauthorized control, malicious modification, or device bricking.
