Unauthenticated account takeover via password-reset query injection
Published Nov 25, 2024 · Updated Nov 27, 2024
NoSQL injection in Adapt Learning Adapt Authoring Tool 0.11.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to reset account passwords. The resetPassword path passes the request token into Mongoose find() without filter sanitization, allowing injected query selectors to match a password-reset record. No authentication is required; knowledge of an account email address enables takeover, and an administrator takeover enables server-side code execution through plugin upload.
