Memory corruption via undersized MHA configuration allocation
Published Jan 23, 2025 · Updated Jan 28, 2025
Heap-buffer overflow in GPAC MP4Box 2.4 allows attackers to corrupt process memory by processing a crafted multimedia file. gf_isom_new_mpha_description allocates an MHA configuration buffer from an embedded length field, then copies dsi_size minus five bytes without verifying that the allocation is large enough. Exploitation requires a user or workflow to process the file; the demonstrated result is an AddressSanitizer-detected abort.
