Passcode bypass via runtime method replacement
Published Nov 22, 2024 · Updated Nov 27, 2024
Authentication bypass in ownCloud Android App 4.3.1 allows physically proximate attackers to access passcode-protected app content. A Frida hook replaces PassCodeViewModel.checkPassCodeIsValid so every supplied passcode returns true instead of undergoing validation. The published proof of concept requires Frida access to the running app; successful bypass exposes files and actions guarded only by the app passcode.
